Don Slocum is a professional photographer living in Hawaii for nearly thirty years. "It's been great living in a supportive photographic community like the one on Hawaii Island," Don explains.
Don uses traditional photography skills greatly influence his work with digital cameras. While many artists today will layer or composite several images in the editing room, Don prefers the single-shot approach. His pictures reflect reality and are actual events he was present for.

Kevin Begemann bought Tai Shan Farms at a farmer's market. He was visiting the Big Island and was looking for a new adventure. He didn't know he wanted to be a farmer until he did. He knew it when he was captivated by the magical Tai Shan Kevin sold everything he had on the mainland and crossed the ocean with a few possessions and his dogs, Max and Sooki.
Tai Shan Farms continues to expand its reach!

Here at Steve’s Akaka Falls Farm, we make our line of jams, jellies, butter, and honey straight from our farm.
Most of the fruits used in our preserves come from our farm next to Akaka Falls in Honomu. Only the best ingredients are used. We use organic cane sugar as our sweetener. No high fructose corn syrup, additives, or preservatives are used. Enjoy tropical jams and preserves from our kitchen. Our fruit is tree-ripened, and our jams are lovingly handmade daily with aloha.
